This is the first single off of Spider Mountain by Dani Lee Pearce. Spider Mountain is out February 18, 2022.
February 2022: Dani Lee Pearce (she/her) is a Pacific Northwest-born nonbinary trans creature currently living in the Midwest who has been releasing music online since 2011. Many of her songs were written during a 5 year period she was homeless, and lyrical subject matter ranges from that experience to drawing from dreams, fantasy, folklore, witchcraft, mythology, history, intense emotions, the spiritual, the mysterious and the macabre.
Her music has ranged across a multitude of moods and textures, beginning with very loose and experimental compositions and transitioning through keyboard-based prog to synth-rooted progressive pop with a distinct queer ethos.
lyrics
jennifer wife of jiminy christmas
could you be any stronger
barking in life with sycophant kingsmen
could you be any longer with
your departure
you have great fortune with demeter
as the Lord of Misrule is yet to be crowned
it is the best of days
so does Catallus say
in the worst of times
so once said Dickens and now say I
jennifer wife of jimminy christmas
you know so much more than snow
given good life by blessed true christians
oh what does old jimmy know
litany on the fringes
dare i say its time to go
its not unspeakable
lets go
and keep the mortal a memory
give their boredom a memo from thee
jennifer wife of jimminy christmas
better raised a post-standard girl
finnegan knows he isnt a straight one
your husband will do fine there
kick back for teacher
this mirror
the dust and the shade
and the way it will dance
youve got the best of ways
in the coldest of winter sway
through the evening lantern light
you stay
